Re: Missing GPL sources

U-Boot sources is missing completely. readme apparently have copyright notice from u-boot copied, but source tarball do not include u-boot.

I have sent a request for source to them. Hopefully they will answer.

Firmware encryption

The firmware as shipped by Iomega is encrypted and signed. AES encrypted tar.gz containing a update.xml describing the update and signatures for the update files. To decrypt the firmware use openssl enc -d -aes-128-cbc -in iconnect-252410916.tgz -out iconnect-252410916.tar.gz -k EMCNTGSOHO The encry...

Re: bricked my ReadyNas Duo

You can find information about the serial port both in this forum and in the wiki. But if you get no leds at all then I am afraid it may truly be a brick.

Life is not lost however. The drive is quite likely healthy and you can most likely recover all data from it.

Re: How to decrypt the firmwre

A hardware independent tool "readynas_crypto" for working with the readynas encryption can be found in my readynas tools section at http://www.henriknordstrom.net/code/readynas/ this tool is capable of working with both types of encryption used in ReadyNAS firmwares / updates / addons. A simple scri...

Re: How to decrypt the firmwre

It should also be possible to make an add-on that copies these. During installation of encrypted add-ons the hwcp and hwdecrypt binaries is present in the root /bin folder. The format of an encrypted addon is the same as an unencrypted one except that the the .tar.gz is encrypted using hwencrypt an...

Re: Unbricking after a broken firmware

alternatively, if the firmware as such appears fine but the root filesystem is corrupt somehow and firmware "reinstallaton" does not help then the tech support mode is your best friend. The official recovery method in these cases is a factory defaults, but this has the very nasty sifeeffect of also ...

Firmware loading problem solved

The firmware loading problem have been solved in two ways

a) It turns out the bootloader accepts unencrypted firmware files in NAND & USB.

b) The encryption details have been recovered. See wiki for details.

Re: S3 area, initial bootstrap + scratchpad area?

This iboot version is in the first part of the NAND flash, loaded by a initial bootstrap code embeddedin the CPU (ROM @0x40000000 / 0x00000000) See wiki.
