Re: New package: Entware-ng

No, the disk was fried as well, but I have another one (USB) that I'm rsync-ing with it from time to time and fortunately for me, the last sync was made two days before the incident, so I haven't lost pretty much anything.

Re: New package: Entware-ng

That was me! :D
Sorry, but I never made it. My NSA310 broke down beyond repair (electric shock). I'm currently waiting for the replacement to arrive (QNAP TS-251+).

Re: New package: Entware-ng

OK, managed to get Entware running on my 325, using an adapted libc. So far it's running fine, I only found one small problem. When starting Midnight Commander there is a 10 seconds delay. (And when I say 10 seconds, I mean 10 seconds: 13:21:22.492726 read(4, "$(eval $PRECMD)admin@NAS520:/i-d"..., ...

Re: New package: Entware-ng

It seems Entware-ng has been deprecated. They have added a "deprecated" label to the repo. There is a new repo here: https://github.com/Entware/Entware called Entware-ng-3x and the main change is dropped support for the 2.x kernels or at least 2.x is supported only for ARMv7, the rest use 3.x for bu...

Re: New package: Entware-ng

Guys, do you know any way to start the processes as other user? Entware's rc.func-based init script subsystem doesn't seems to support starting the processes as other user than root and you know this is a potential security hole. Use "PREARGS" and sudo e.g.: PREARGS="sudo -u nobody" Works like a ch...

Re: New package: Entware-ng

One more tip: if you want to use one and the same settings in bash and busybox, store all your shell settings in ~/.bash_profile and make a symlink to that file in the home folder, called ~/.profile . The first name is being sourced automatically by bash , the second one (the symlink) - by busybox .

Re: New package: Entware-ng

BTW, messing with the /bin/sh symlink (as suggested here ) is a bad idea. The wrapper script actually works, but the NAS (at least mine NSA310) wasn't able to reboot or shutdown on several occasions. Changing the default shell in /etc/passwd would be better idea, it changes only the login shell for ...

Re: New package: Entware-ng

Meanwhile, I made a new bash package, configured with ac_cv_func_pselect=no to serve as a workaround for now. It's compiled against the current Entware-ng packages tree, so it should work for most people. Those, who are interested, the new ipk package is here . That could be #!/bin/busybox sh [ -t 1...

Re: New package: Entware-ng

My analysis so far: According to the Entware-ng archive the previous version of bash was 4.3.42, the current one is 4.4.12. According to bash CHANGES the use of pselect in readline is introduced in 4.4-beta. So the previous Entware-ng package of bash did not include a call to pselect, the current o...

Re: New package: Entware-ng

Yes. I think so, but the case with pselect is a bit specific. In uClibc by default newselect() and select() syscalls are used and if they are unavailable, fall backs to pselect6. Looking at glibc source it does the same since 2017.05.03: https://sourceware.org/git/?p=glibc.git;a=commit;h=26f28fd73d...

Re: New package: Entware-ng

So, glibc recompilation with stubs using 2.6.15 or even 2.6.31.8 kernel headers will not help to run binaries, which uses at least pselect6,ppoll or epoll_pwait. The only way is to recompile affected binaries itself, because they might have (might not have as well) fallback mechanism avoiding using...

Re: New package: Entware-ng

BTW I'm reading this ATM. Wow, answer like this one sounds to me like a "If you want that, then do it yourself!". If those two are devs, then I must be Santa Claus or the Easter rabbit.
