Re: OpenMediaVault on the Home Media CE

Wheezy is a requirement for OMV, so you need it first.
Let us know your progress, and how the 2.x version runs!

Re: OpenMediaVault on the Home Media CE

I think the OMV devs have made it simpler to install since when I did, some 18 months ago I have not upgraded to the latest version, tough, running 1.x something, not 2. I was told that the main difference in on the web server, and I don't see (for the moment) enough goodies to upgrade (as HMNHDCE m...

Re: OpenMediaVault on the Home Media CE

There is a plugin to backup to USB/eSATA drive when plugged in. You can also create rsync jobs.

What I have setup is a backup script, and jobbed it to run everyday.

Re: Can your help me restore original firmware?

Its there an easy way to move to Openvault? Well, more or less, but it'll require some dedication. In the first instance, look at: http://forum.nas-central.org/viewtopic.php?f=269&t=6277 http://forum.nas-central.org/viewtopic.php?f=269&t=13953 http://forums.openmediavault.org/index.php/Thread/5422-...

Re: Can your help me restore original firmware?

Well spotted @Mijzelf
I clarify previous reply of "No" was to @pini2211
Anyone with the same problem?
Not to
Is there anyway to change my blocksize?
Which I would assume its 4Kb (I doubt very much 1 Mb!)

Re: Can your help me restore original firmware?

No.
As mentioned earlier, I moved to OpenMediaVault long ago, and far more satisfied than with the stock firmware.

Re: OpenMediaVault on the Home Media CE

For versión 1.x onwards (not 1.9, I've never seen it, and I started with 0.4 as well!) you need Wheezy, so you'll need to repeat the steps you did in the past (follow http://forums.openmediavault.org/index.php/Thread/5302-Howto-install-OpenMediaVault-on-Debian-7-x-Wheezy/ ) If not happy with Wheezy,...

Re: OpenMediaVault on the Home Media CE

Hi again! Latest version is 1.14, as in http://www.openmediavault.org/ . It seems that in the most recent updates, the error about mounting the data partitions, and the manual trick that had to be done has been corrected. But I haven't tried to test it, as I have it working seamlessly for the past f...

Re: OpenMediaVault on the Home Media CE

Yes, you can do that, but you'll be in a version that is no longer supported. you could download a 0.4.x DEB file for upgrading, but you'll be stuck there. And you'll need to disable the CRON job that looks fo updates as it will fail daily. The above not a major deal if you install and it works, but...
