Re: EDmini v2 mainline kernel support

Hi, Not your direct problem but isn`t a 2.6.16+ kernel mandatory for lenny? I must say that I also understood that it was. However it may not be, particularly if a lenny chroot is sufficient for your needs. I have a lenny chroot running on a MIPS CPU (Realtek RTD1283DD in an Xtreamer) with a 2.6.12 ...

Re: Edmini does not boot - System Power off log (solved)

i plugged rx tx and gnd to my rs-232->USB converter. and during boot i'm getting lots of trash. i'm using zoc6 (mac), 115200, 8N1 (like in env from catched u-Boot) is it possible that i also need to convert voltages from 3.3 in marvel to at least 5v in rs? Are you sure your RS-232 -> USB converter ...

Re: "WOL"-flag &"halt"-flag

I've seen by the Wiki and the associated thread that somebody was able to enable the "halt" flag. Is it possible to enable at the same time wake-on-lan? The I2C EEPROM contains a halt/reboot flag (7th byte) and also a WOL flag (8th byte). However I don't recommend playing with the WOL flag :( I hav...

Strange :?
I have never used CLUNC so I cannot help you much.
You could try asking on the LaCie-NAS mailing list here.

Re: Edmini V2 wont boot

I`ve done everything as it`s mentioned in this post: http://forum.nas-central.org/viewtopic.php?f=146&t=131&start=15 and still my EDMini won`t boot to hell up :) If you've checked and re-checked everything, I would suggest you use a serial console to find out what"s going wrong. You could also try ...

Re: [HOWTO] Set the root password to lacie

Here is a guide how you can set your root password to "lacie", even reboot safe :) That's great :) Thank you very much olihey. I was wondering how to get root on the WS. I intend to build kernel modules for DVB when they release the Linux kernel source code (hint, hint LaCie ;-) ). EDIT: the GPL ta...

Instead of a serial console you could try CLUNC.
CLUNC is a netconsole that you can get here.
I think it is worth a try even if you are having network problems.

Re: File transfer via SMB

@rosbif: I still have 1.0.2. Where did you get the 1.0.7? From the person at LaCie who deals with beta testing. Are they putting 1.0.2 on the production devices or were you a beta tester too? Concerning 1.0.2: My ISP gives a very short DHCP lease of 10 minutes. (This seems very strange to me as I h...

Re: 2 lacie edminiv2 with power problems

The strange thing is that my brother has the same disk and looks like has the same problem with his lacie, i guess to have 1 problem is ok but 2 with the same issue of power cords is strange o not? Just a stab in the dark: Not all disks have the same power consumption, maybe yours are too hi...

Re: File transfer via SMB

Unfortunatly I encountered a problem when transfering large files to the NAS via smb (also testet ftp and problems also occured). After transfering 20-30Mbyte the upload rate suddenly drops and the connection is lost. I just transferred a file of nearly 4 Gbytes from a Windows 7 machine to my Wirel...

Re: i tried for you: it was a bad idea

I crashed my D2 HDD so i tried to replace it it with an old one (no partition on it). Once changed, i started the D2 was able to ping it. I tried to "update capsule" with Lacie network manager software and of course, it did not work  . So i decided (one more error  ) to reset the D2 with...

Re: EDmini v2 in Wake-on-LAN limbo

I'd recommend trying the list (lacie-nas@sequanux.org). This discussion continued on the lacie-nas mailing list. Anyone interested can read it here . AIUI the problem was worked around by resetting the 8th byte of the I2C EEPROM to 0xFF using an external programmer (but with the EEPROM in situ). Th...

Maybe CLUNC will do the job.
CLUNC is a netconsole that you can get here.
If this doesn't work, Albert (aaribaud) will probably know the solution.
Or try asking on the lacie-nas mailing list ;-)
