Re: 5Big Network 2 - will not appear on network - Faulty NIC

I suggest you register at plugout.net and download the fvdw-sl console and try to load the standalone kernel. That runs from RAM. If that works you know that the ethernet interface is ok and it must be a firmware problem, additional you can start investigation the disks using the standalone kernel. ...

Re: 5Big Network 2 - will not appear on network - Faulty NIC

Hello, I don't think your ethernet device is broken, thats very unlikely unless you have had lighting struck on power grid in your neighboorhood. And if it is damaged then you can not repair it. It is a chip on he motherboard of the nas that can't be replaced. The fact that it worked again is strong...

Re: 2big NAS fresh installation

We need to know if this is a nas with arm processor (2big version 1 or 2) or a nas with intel processor (2big pro). What does the sticker on the bottom mention as type? Do you have an instruction manual? Also that could reveal the type. If the 3TB disks were the original disk is likely that it is an...

Re: u-boot GPT support for 5bigv1

to my knowledge there is no version of u-boot for 5big1 available the supports GPT partition tables In principle it is possible to compile a new u-boot version that could support GPT but that's not an easy task and has a risk. If the new compiled version put is in flash memory of your nas and is not...

Re: need help with 5bigv1 - won't boot after 16.1 firmware

Thank you yes I tried to register but the admin I contacted refused the gmail and comcast addresses I gave, so I tried to use disposable email addresses and he labeled me a spammer. yes that happens if you use a disposable e-mail. The problem is that our provider will block e-mail sending in case d...

Re: need help with 5bigv1 - won't boot after 16.1 firmware

You could try to contact one of the admins. ;) Yes we are cautious with general email addresses like gmail and hotmail to keep spammers out. In which slot did you put the disk with the firmware? It should be in most lefthand side slot seen from the back ---- edit Ps what partition table did you use ...

Re: NAS fresh disk

If it came with a 3 TB disk from the factory than it should also work with that disk and the bootloader will support gpt partition tables. It means something else prevents the firmware loading.ps you could consider to use our fvdw-sl firmware or fvdw-sl console that runs under windows on your pc and...

Re: NAS fresh disk

Probably the bootloader of a D2 network 2 doesnt support GPT partition tables, needed to use 3TB disk. A msdos partion table can only address 2TB disk space. If you have used a gpt table to bootloader cannot read the disk

Re: bricked after FW-update?

Assuming this is really a 5big network2 than you need to know (and lacie support also) that there are two version. 1 that has been sold without disks, and 1 sold wirh disks. The first, diskless version has indeed firmware installed in flash memory and can initialize new disks. The vesion sold with d...

Re: Blinking red on hdd, front led off

In any case the front led should come on or blink if you power up. If that doesn't happen then indeed it might be a power supply issue or another hardware failure

Re: Lacie 2Big network 2 Not nooting

Uboot output is very clear, this is an orion based device (cpu 5182) so an old 2big. The cpu but also mainboard is very different from the newer kirkwood (cpu 6281) ;based 2big2. A kernel for the kirkwoods won't run on this orion based device.

Re: Replace 3Tb disk with another 1Tb... but Original Firm ¿

fwdw what do you mean with raid setup? have I to activate something about it? It depends, if you make a 1 to 1 copy of the the total disk using software that can make a bit by bit image of the the total disk or of each partition, then nothing has to be done. If you want to copy data from a partitio...
