Re: EDmini v2 mainstream kernel support

but the edmini doesn't start up You mean there are no new entries in log files? Mayby try this way: Backup all partitions Remove sda7,sda8,sda9 Create new sda7 using whole free space from deleted partitions On sda7 put Debian from this package: http://www1.wpkg.org/fsg-3-debian/fsg-3-deploy-stick.t...

Re: EDmini v2 mainstream kernel support

Hello in New Year with Lacie :> . Serial console is really good thing and because of that I have constructed one(following rosbif and aribaud instructions), I would say it isn't so difficult :) . then I put the uImage on my edmini but it doesn't work. What do you mean? You are not able to connect vi...

Re: EDmini v2 mainstream kernel support

Just like I wrote you in private message: you have to create uImage. Then use this file as a source for dd.

Happy New Year!

Re: daemon for power button

Could you tell me, does your EDv2 turn off completely after "shutdown -h now" or "poweroff"? In my case, HDDs turn off, but FAN works and LED doesn't stop lighting.

I have the same configuration as you, except I have EBD.

Re: EDmini v2 mainstream kernel support

Thank you for these instructions and explanations! The USB device (slave) port is not supported in mainline (but it is in the stock LaCie kernel). Did I really say that it was supported? No, it was my mental leap. I should have been more precise :P - sorry about that. I was thinking only about "flas...

Re: EDmini v2 mainstream kernel support

EDIT: I didn't notice that you had answered, when I was writing next message ;) . In the meanwhile I have just compiled this kernel and it works ;) . Thank you for your tips about git! /EDIT I have a few questions about this new features and kernel: - how to control LED? echo "255"> /sys/class/leds/...

Re: newb question - Disk1 short or long cable?

I am not an expert, but for example uBoot loads kernel from sda6 by default. Without kernel device won't start. So in my opinion this is important. Moreover, according to the entries in fstab file, kernel mounts filesystem and it use specific (in fstab file) partition for it (insted of using UUID, w...

Re: EDmini v2 mainstream kernel support

EDmini v2 support is now in the first release candidate for the mainline 2.6.28 Linux kernel Great! 2.6.28-rc1 contains the following EDmini v2 related stuff from aaribaud and me Could you tell me how to download 2.6.28-rc1 via git? Again by using this repo: git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kerne...

Re: DANGER: risk of data corruption with updated kernels

Thank you for info! Can anyone using XFS on an updated kernel give positive or negative reports on this, please? I had problem with XFS after building Lacie kernel with XFS module by my own. The latest kernel (2.6.27) seems to work fine, but because of your info, I am rebuliding RAID with ext2 now :...

Re: Partition Setup

I have just checked and for my everything went fine, but I had to use root account, because this archive has some hardlinks(or sth :P) inside. I have done it in that way: su - mkdir temp cd temp wget http://www1.wpkg.org/fsg-3-debian/fsg-3-deploy-stick.tar.bz2 tar -xvjf fsg-3-deploy-stick.tar.bz2 cd...

Re: Partition Setup

Hey, First of all, I am not a Linux expert nor owner of EDMv2. I have EDB, but as far as we have already checked the only diffrent is the number of HD inside the device. Anyway, in my case, by default, device starts and looks for kernel image in raw uImage format on sda6. So, you should create as ma...

Re: Help needed cross compiling fuse.ko (solved)

Hey,

I had problem with NFS module, until I used the kernel from git repo with rosbif's and aaribaud's patches. I know it is still in development stage, but for me, it works pretty well ;) .

Re: EDmini v2 JTAG and serial console pinout

Great!

So I was able to use aribaud's uboot patch :) and I can tell you now, that it works with EBD :) .

U-boot command line with saving option is very pretty thing :D .
