read-only filesystem

Post by goldlocke » Mon Jul 30, 2012 8:53 am

Me again.

Recently I had some power outages due to some thunderstorms...
Now it seems that the whole /ffp is read-only filesystem. Even as root. :(
I am sure this is a basic linux question, but can someone point me to the right howto?
thx! :D

The most common reason for this is that the filesystem on the stick got damaged by the power break. On boot the kernel finds the stick unreliable, and remounts the whole stick read-only, to prevent further damage.
You could try to repair it:

Code: Select all

chkfs /dev/sdc2

I did a

Code: Select all

umount /dev/sdc2
before, then

Code: Select all

fsck /dev/sdc2
then reboot...checking right now...looks good. daemon restarting does not show read-only errors anymore.
Thanks again! :)

Hi There

I have the problem, maybe do not know how to do it - but I not get a usb stick to boot from it.

I use the Zyxel NSA-220 Plus with the FirmWare 3.25.

Any suggestions?

Kindly Simon
