Not having spare time at all, I decided to waste it managing to install the freenas distribution into an edmini v1.

The first thing I've to do is hook up a serial console to do some experiments loading alternative kernels.

And then the question is: does somebody has the pinout of the internal 10 pin connector?

It seems to be different from those of the edmini v2 (10 vs. 8 pins)...

I've already tried to connect an usb serial adapter using 2,7 and 8 pins but without luck...

Ok. Confirmed (by myself). My serial adapter was broken.

Now it is working and I was able to connect via serial port (2=gnd, 7,8=rx/tx) to my little edmini.

Tomorrow (now is too late) I'll try to load via tftp a ppc generic kernel (taken from freebsd boot disk).

This is the edmini's "hello" message:

do you know if anyone has made an updated uboot? maybe one with netconsole?

does your board have jtag & if so, is there an agreed-upon, reproducible method to flash from JTAG?
