Hi!

Got a Edmini without harddrive. So I would like to get access to a disk image of the Lacie partitions.

Btw. has anybody been able to unpack the update tools cab file? It should give some information about how the package and installation mechanism works.

Hello tas,

I (accidentally, BTW) found the diskimages at http://gpl.nas-central.org/LACIE/ethern ... on_images/

Happy Hacking!

I also have the EDmini (not the EDmini v2) and do not think the images in the link above will work. The partition sizes are much too big.

The original hard drive(400GB) died and I am not savy enough on Linux to reconstruct a new drive.

Does anyone and an original image of the Edmini drive that I can push to a new drive?

Hi Roglio, i have the same request like Tas: could you send a link where we can download the disk image? It might be useful for other EDmini holders as well. Thanks in advance anyway.

davyk,
Thanks for the post.
These will really help.
However, I am a bit confused on which img files are which partitions.
Could you match the names of the files with corrisponding partition name (from your partition list)?
This might not be a big deal. Please let me know if this does not matter and I will just put push the images to the drive in the order they appear.

Thanks again for the images and thanks for you help.

Boris

One other thing,
You said that you have done the first 5 partitions.
How many partitions are there?

thanks,
Boris

@boris270:
I'am working on a reconstruction of an EDmini v1 too - answering your question:
dmesg shows the partitions: hda1 < hda5 hda6 hda7 hda8 > hda2 hda3

hda1 is extended (250 MB) containing part. 5 to 8

hda5 is linux-swap (no need to restore from image)
hda6 is unknown/a raw uBoot-Image for booting
hda7 is ext3 for root-filesystem
hda8 is ext3/an overlay for hda7

hda2 is Primary/FAT32 containing the Edmini-Logon for USB-connection
hda3 is Primary/FAT32 rest of disk for user data

Look here at a partition-table of the original 250 GB disk shown by Ghost:

Image

Now I try a reconstruction using a 60 GB-disk and the images supplied by davyk for hda6, 7 and 8 & hda2:
I've opened the images with Winimage, hda7 is ok and readable, hda8 can be open, but looking into the folder let it crash.
hda2 shows the wrong file-system, it must be FAT32, so I extract the files via Winimage and made a new image containing 9MB of stuff.
Then using a Gparted Live-CD for partitioning - the result:

and in Ghost:

Copying the files for hda6 to 8 using dd was ok, hda2 too.

But unfortunately the thing doesn't boot :-( :-( :-(
Is something wrong with hda6 ???
Has anybody got a v1 returned to life ???

Hello,
first of all thank you, davyk

I recovered the partitions images on a 250GB HD Samsung (I used GParted and the "dd" command) but I found the same problem with the Edmini V1 hda6.
I found the same alert message (file system corrupted or unknown) and the hda6 partition is black.
I saw that differently from other images the hda6 image doesn't contain any file.
It should be a raw uBoot-Image for booting so I think that it should contain some file... it's strange that it's completely free.

@ LacieHasser
Did you finally solve the problem ?

Thank you
Bye
