I am not sure if you really need to deal with uboot and the like to get your device working. I am not an expert, though.
It looks like all you need is to replace the damaged drive. To accomplish that, all you need is here in the NAS Central.
Please make sure that your disk is a Lacie Edmini V2. Check out the wiki http://lacie.nas-central.org/wiki/Category:EDmini_v2

Lacie Edmini V2 runs an customised debian from factory. You can install a more recent version on a usb stick and use it to boot the device via reloaded.ko. Read the Painless Debian
