I contacted petris to thank him for his nice work and see if he could join back and see what could be done for an easy install method.
EDIT: he did reply, and i'm hoping he's coming back here soon with details.
EDIT2: my only reason for contacting him was to offer help for testing, and not ask for support. Support should stay in the forums.

I already contacted him as well :).

I have a bit of a problem installing Samba... When i install Samba i get the message that nmbd is starting, so that goes well.

However, when the system attempts to start smbd it just hangs (when logged in via SSH). On the terminal output all i see is "Starting SMBD: fail!". Nothing to find in the log files...

Does anyone have a suggestion on this matter? What's a NAS about with no Samba :D.

And one last strange thing is that during init it says it's brought up my network interfaces, but it doesn't. So when it's fully booted i have to start eth0 manually, is there a way to automate that?

EDIT ABOUT NETWORK:
I fixed it already. Seems that in the interfaces file there was a misconfiguration. The line "auto eth0" was not there, so the system would not automatically start it.

BTW. I managed to compile the latest Transmission on the box (had to recompile some libraries, as they were outdated). Installed mt-daapd and USB support (i run the 2.6.31-big kernel)
