Edmini V2 wont boot

Post by Mercure » Wed Oct 06, 2010 3:46 pm

I am a proud owner of Lacie Edmini v2 since...yesterday :)
Unit has had faulty HDD, which is replaced to new one (Seagate 500GB)
I`ve done everything as it`s mentioned in this post: viewtopic.php?f=146&t=131&start=15
and still my EDMini won`t boot to hell up :)
Help please

If you've checked and re-checked everything, I would suggest you use a serial console to find out what"s going wrong.
You could also try CLUNC which you can get here.
CLUNC is a netconsole which is sort of a poor man's serial console.
The advantage is that it works with just an ethernet connection and you don't even have to open the box.
It is supported by U-Boot but I am not sure whether support is compiled into the stock Linux kernel.
I cannot tell you much more as I have never used it.

You say you bought it yesterday and it is already dead :(
Did you buy it second hand?
Maybe the seller didn't tell you the full story :(
Anyway if you can get a U-Boot prompt with CLUNC, I am sure you will be able to revive it :)

Hi
I`ve slept with this problem and started all over again.
Everything is fine now,EDMini works as good as new. Problem was that i`ve mounted every partition (sda6,sda7 etc) to load the images with dd instead of loading directly to /dev/sdax. It`s caused by the fact, that i`m more Windowsboy than Linuxman ;)

Edmini have been bought from second hand (polish equivalent of Ebay called Allegro),and seller "forgot" to tell me that hdd is almost dead...like they say..no risk no fun :)

Thanks for feedback, for now ;) I think i`ll stay longer with you guys :)
