Hello there,

according to ... me_edition,

the home edition has the same chipset as the EDmini v2.
I happened to speak with a Marvell guy today, who also suggested that the board is pretty much the same, but the home edition has even more RAM than the EDmini v2.
Does any owner of a home edition know what's inside the box?
I mean, if all the above is true, and I had a "home edition" (bought either by mistake or on purpose), I would definitely want to wipe out the entire hard drive and dump a fresh disk image of the EDmini v2 (either the original one or, more likely, a "more complete" one)...
The home edition is even cheaper... which doesn't really make much sense, unless they're making you pay for the (free?) software that's inside.

And why would the home edition be on the edmini forum instead of the EDminiv2 (to which, according to the above, is definitely more related than the first, PowerPC-core EDmini )?

Any comments?

If all you wrote here is true then I don't really get it either. That means that the home edition is a better computer with the same HD capacity than the edmini V2 and it is still cheaper? This is weird. And I read that e.g. the network space and the internet disk even have less RAM while still being pretty much the same as the original edmini V2.

A comparison table with the hardware details would be nice on the wiki. Maybe we should start one to clean up with all possible confusions here. Could be useful now that LaCie made more machines like Buffalo

The diff ain't that big actually.

I have the Home edition, the board is the same, only it misses the USB port for mass storage connection on PC. For the rest it seems the same to me :).
