Hi,

My lacie home edition (V2 I suppose) has a habit of never stopping activity (blue eye blinks all the time) unless I disconnect it from the LAN, no matter if any of the home PC are on. It appears to be constantly calling "home" (laciehome?) as the DSL modem lights up as well accordingly. Also, the drive never stops spinning (wasteful).

Is this also observed by other? Any remedy?

In the desperate attempt to peek into its guts I have hacked it to be able to run 'top'. It often (almost every time I run top) shows:
Code:
PID USER      PR  NI  VIRT  RES  SHR S %CPU %MEM    TIME+  COMMAND
 1370 apache    18   0  8660 2020  828 R 37.3  3.3   0:33.01 mt-daapd
 5430 root      18   0  4500 1484  756 R 21.3  2.4   0:01.34 twonkymediaserv
 5440 apache    15   0  1924  920  724 R  5.3  1.5   0:00.12 top
 5429 root      16   0  4500 1484  756 S  1.8  2.4   0:00.04 twonkymediaserv
    1 root      16   0  1612  592  512 S  0.0  1.0   0:00.78 init

With either twonkymediasserv or mt-daapd at the top 75% of CPU.

BTW none of the "backdoor" recipes worked for me as:
1) the www root is now on /var/www and not from /
2) the cgi-bin was not enabled (had to hack httpd.config to enable it)
3) the $QUERY_STRING env as urldecoded so I had to urlundecode it first (with perl help) before passing it to eval in the script (who did it/could it work for others at all?)
4) apache setup seemed more secured as no script would run if placed in admin directory (went through path of least resistance with cgi-bin)
5) different partition layout:
Code:
Disk /dev/sdf: 500.1 GB, 500107862016 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 60801 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
Disk identifier: 0x0007f93b

Device Boot      Start         End      Blocks   Id  System
/dev/sdf1   *           1         382     3068383+  83  Linux
/dev/sdf2             383         448      530145   82  Linux swap / Solaris
/dev/sdf3             449       60796   484745310   83  Linux
/dev/sdf4           60797       60801       40162+   5  Extended
/dev/sdf5           60797       60798       16033+  83  Linux
/dev/sdf6           60799       60799        8001   83  Linux
/dev/sdf7           60800       60801       16033+  83  Linux

Code:
uname -a
Linux axentraserver.XVX.homelacie.com 2.6.12.6-arm1-lacie5b #3 Fri Apr 20 11:44:12 EDT 2007 armv5tejl armv5tejl armv5tejl GNU/Linux

Thanks,

Michal
