Hi all,

After a power failure I got a dead NAS.
When i plug the power-cord in all leds flicker very briefly on and then stay off, same when I pull the power out.

I measured all voltages and at first sight all seems ok.
I have 1.8V, 2.55V, 3.3V, 5V and 12V

The Marvell chip stays cold, I thing the firmware is a goner.
Also nothing on TX @ J2 (0V all the time)

Is there a way to do some tests from JTAG or so?

Have you measured the voltages while powering on the box? And have your tried to boot without disks?

AFAIK that is normal. I have several boxes here where I can't feel if the box is powered on or not, by touching the SoC.

Hi Mijzelf,

The voltages are measured without the disks.
But even with the disks in place I'm unable to power-on the box.
The leds won't go on for any of the power button states (off auto or on).

As for the Marvell chip i didn't know they ran so cold, just assumed it would get warm.

That sounds bad. When the voltages are OK, and nothing is on the TX, it looks like the CPU isn't powered or dead.

About jtag, here is some information about the Edmini V2 (which is supposed to be highly comparable to the 2Big), and it seems the flash is not directly accessible through jtag. So if the flash is gone, it's not easy to reload it over jtag.

Damn.

It could be I missed a broken voltage line, there is probably no service manual for this product?

Wondering what that Xilinx CPLD is for.
My guess is that it keeps the time and regulates the auto power-on and sleep, but i'm not sure.

Thnx for the tip, I'l try to get some JTAG going.
