Hi everyone,
It seems the capsule for this update is not available even on LaCie website, even after registering the product etc.
Does anyone still has the file (windows version) ?
Big thanks !
Benjamin

You can download all 2Big2 capsules at ftp://2bignetwork2:2bignetwork2@2bignetwork2-update.lacie.com/1.0/prod/

Can I use the same ones or do you know where I could find them ?
Cheers,
Benjamin

Oh sorry, didn't see that. (And your post was in the wrong subforum)

No, you can't install 2Big2 firmware on a 2Big, it's a complete different box. There is something funny with the 2.2.3 capsule for the 2Big. I suppose you saw this? You can download any capsule, except 2.2.3. For 2.2.3 you'll have to register. I think because of "It is valid only for the references 301257, 301258 and 301259". But I don't know what it actually means.

Thanks for that.
I saw that yesterday while I was trying to update and it turned me mad. I registered my disc, which is 301257J, so supposedly eligible, but even after registering, no file available. Not very professional from them.
For the record here, I found an update file available under :
http://downloads.lacie.nas-central.org/ ... _to_2.2.8/

Thanks for the user posting it. Although after a "successful update" (so the update system said), my system version is still stuck to 2.0.7, and I can't go any further :-(
So still hoping for LaCie to answer my support ticket and provide a file that would hopefully work better.

Cheers,
Benjamin

http://www.wuala.com/Ernesto%20Chierici ... .2.3-r1802

A quick look into the file shows that it can (will?) upgrade the bootloader.
Code:
        <Upgrade>
                <Version>2.2.3</Version>
                <TemporaryStorage>RAM</TemporaryStorage>
                <BootLoader>
                        <File>repository/bootloader</File>
                        <SHA1>79700c593988ea755e863e80d8d5cca29a31b4c3</SHA1>
                        <UpgradableVersion>U-Boot 1.1.1 (Jun 15 2007 - 08:56:23) Marvell version: 1.7.3 - LaCie version: 1.4.alpha_3</UpgradableVersion>
                        <UpgradableVersion>U-Boot 1.1.4 (Nov 25 2008 - 09:19:43) Marvell version: 2.4.9</UpgradableVersion>
                </BootLoader>
That might be the reason why Lacie is convulsive about this update. All Lacie updates are reversible, but this one isn't, and it can brick your box if it fails.

Let me know if it worked for you.

Thanks ! Good to have your insight as I am no specialist, so thanks for your time again.
I'll wait for a file from LaCie if it ever comes and try again.

The LaCie support guys finally answered and gave me an update file that worked better.
And the disk still works ;-)
For the record, the location of the file (though possibly a temporary one):
http://www.wuala.com/jhang/Files/2Big%2 ... 20Network/

Thanks for all the help.
Cheers,
Benjamin

Are there more people who's have problems tot update there Lacie 2Big Network tot the latest firmware 2.2.3?

I'm now on 2.07 and he is working without any problems.
But when i follow the guide for updating everything works fine, but he never gets any further than step 1 of 3 'Shutdown en restart'.
Tried different computers, but al the same problem.

On some pages i read something about a Patchfix, but i can't find it on the Lacie site.
Someone got any idea?

Hello!, Sorry for bring alive this old post, but im really desperate.
I have a bricked LaCie 2Big and the Capsule 2.2.3 from "Updates_from_2.07_to_2.2.8" on downloads.lacie.nas-central.org don't work :(

do any of you have the Capsule 2.2.3 that was uploaded to Walla?

I contacted LaCie support like 10 times requesting the original file but I think they don't actually know about this old file:

Quote:
I am sorry but we have already given you access to all the links that can lead to the downloads for this unit. There is the link to the archive file that was sent by Terrence. Which is the old files and all that we have for the older units.

The web page for your model of the drive shows that it is able to take the updates up to the 2.2.8 so you should be able to work with the FTP downloads.

If you are looking for a capsule that contains the original install of the OS for this drive we do not have access to this.

http://www.lacie.com/support/network-st ... disk-raid/

We cannot send you what we do not have. There is a network update zip file on this page that is about all we have.

Sorry for my bad English.

And if any of you have the Capsule File I will eternally grateful. :(
