I'm on 6.0.23 but 6.0.28 fix mkv playing to samsung tv.
In twonky forum i see someone whom manually change some modules and binary to work with their NAS with the linux release of 6.0.28, but it seems not compatible with our arm CPU.

Is there any hint to make the hack to our NAS?

I reply myself, 6.0.30 released for nas and worked like a charm.

so you have installed the 6.0.30 in your network space 2? How do you do that?

I tried the Buffalo terastion pro (arm) version in our lacie and it works perfectly.

I downloaded the mentioned version. How can I install this version to my new Lacie NS2?

Is there an easy way? If not what are the main steps to take? Providing a guide would be great but, since I do not know the amount of work right now, providing some links to read with some basic facts should also do the job....

I think you need to copy files when logged in as Root.

I've manager to put the 6.0.30 version but I've got some issues :
- I've able to start the server manually, but not with the boot script
- it says that there's a trial period, and I can enter the serial key, really weird ?!

Of course you need a rooted device, it's the only way to add or manage the new software.

Of course the official twonky media server 6.x needs a valid serial, (the actual license of embeded twonky media server 4 don't works with 6.x versions), if you like this product the easiest way to get a serial is to buy it at twonky offcial web.

To boot twonky one way is to replace the original twonky folder with the new one, you can mv the original folder to other location as backup.

I was playing with this version for two weeks and works like a charm.

Hello, have successfuly installed version 6.0.30 .
One small problem - the checkbox in dashboard - to start/stop media server does not work anymore.
It starts, but stop does not work.

Any ideas where to look?

Could you explain what you did to install twonky? I successfully copied the files, but I'm pretty sure twonky server isn't running anymore

This is what i did:

1. Stop old media server in dashboard

2. Download Buffalo terastion pro (arm) version from http://www.twonkyforum.com/downloads/6.0.30/ and unzip localy.

3. Rename old forder to something else

4. Create new forder [twonkymedia].

5. Copy from locat to new folder these folders and files

cgi-bin/
plugins/
resources/
twonkymedia
twonkymediaserver
twonkymedia.sh

6. Give execute [x] permision to:
cgi-bin/*
plugins/*
twonkymedia
twonkymediaserver
twonkymedia.sh

7. Change /etc/initng/twonkymedia.i
to something like that: /usr/local/twonkymedia/twonkymedia-server-myconfig.ini

8. Restart device, Start media server

9. Change /usr/local/twonkymedia/twonkymedia-server-myconfig.ini as you like then restart again.

Do not know how to make start/stop media server from dashboard.
I use these from cmdline:
killall twonky
/usr/local/twonkymedia/twonkymedia.sh -start

Also discovered that mediaserver does not starts when in config [scantime=-1], make it [scantime=60]

Also sometimes after it crashes i cant startup until i remove that scan database.

I believe twonky is up and running, but I still get a red screen saying: Access is restricted to MediaServer configuration!

SOLVED:

Locate the line
# Web access
enableweb=0

Change it to
# Web access
enableweb=2

Restart the server....

7. Change /etc/initng/twonkymedia.i
from /usr/local/twonkymedia/twonkymedia-server.ini
to /usr/local/twonkymedia/twonkymedia-server-myconfig.ini

on startup it owerwrites twonkymedia-server.ini with some default settings

I obtained root on my Lacie NS2 FW_1.2.92 with the methods described on this forum (just search on forum).
I installed twonky_6.0.30 even the last release twonky_6.0.32 .
Both function ok (except the stop checkbox from dashboard (it said that it stopped media server, but it doesn't)).
Both have nice features vs original twonky.

BUT, I am not able to play .mkv files on my Samsung UE40D7000 TV.
This is the main reason that forced me to upgrade twonky.
Music and photos works fine. Videos (not .mkv files) works also.

But with .mkv files I receive an error message on my TV like "Not Supported File Format".
The mkv files are shown in the library but when I try to play them I receive the err message above.
The same .mkv files on my USB Stick connected directlly on TV's USB work just fine.

Did anyone succeded to play mkv files on Samsung TV after twonky upgrade?
All the post that I have read were somehow started from this initial problem. But no one (al least from what I've read) replyed if they can play mkv files after the upgrade.

So, did anyone succeded?
