Connecting to network space via ethernet cable

Post by flacky2000 » Sun Nov 06, 2011 10:34 am

Please excuse me for being thick, I do not know a huge amount about this field so need some help which is probably very simple if possible.
I have a network space which is plugged into my router which I connect to with my mac. I mainly use my the network space to store my music which I then sync with itunes and it works fine if not a little slow! The main problem lies when copying music from the network space to itunes and this is very time consuming. When I copy a file to a local drive and add it to itunes that way it is almost instant so it's obviously slower transferring it through the wifi. My question is: can I plug my laptop into the router with an ethernet cable and connect to the network space this way which may help me transfer files quicker? Or any other suggestions for that matter.

Thanks for your time.

I don't understand what you mean. Are you asking if connecting your laptop to a wired network will give a better throughput to your nas than using wireless?

Then the answer is: Likely yes. Wired connection is always superior to wireless connection.
