Does anyone know howto set the NAS FAN to start spinning or stop spinning at certain temperatures?

NAS server: Sitecom MD253, \w busybox 1.10.2, \w twonky 4.4.19

What I would like is that the FAN starts when the HD temp is higher than 50 degrees C, and stops when not.

I found mp_fan_speed and mp_therm-fan in /proc but dont know how to control them

To break it down, I think question 1 is: How do I control the FAN (on/off) and 2: how do I continually monitor the temp and have busybox/NAS respond to control when a certain temperature has been reached.

thanks
