Auto switch on after electricity shut down?

Post by ffontana » Tue Jun 14, 2011 9:52 pm

Hi,

New in this site. For sure more interesting than official site.

I just wonder if is possible to auto switch on the nas after an electricity failure.

Every time the electricity supply fails, I have to manually turn on the nas.
Impossible in case I'm not at home and trying to use the ftp service.

Just wondering.

Great job.

Not without hw changes.

Two options, in parallell with the existing switch solder two wires to a relay controlled by a small circuit connected to the grid wich closes the relay a second or so whenever it gets power. Second option is to have the same circuit controlling a small actuator, (for example a metal rod in a coil or similar thingy) which presses the power-on button whenever the circuits sens that power is back. Last example requires no hw change to the NAS.

There might be an easier way, just a simple capacitor or a capacitor-diode combination: Alternative 9 (a simple capacitor)
