as you may know, MD-253 specification says "Built-in iTunes Server" but it's not working properly since iTunes 7 (or even early versions). In my opinion this is a Sitecom gyp
Current firmware 2.4.15 (I guess newer 2.4.21 too) includes a DAAP protocol daemon called "daapd" which it turns out to be open source project mt-daapd version 0.2.4.2 (

Test: Enable "iTunes Server" service and access to port 3689 of your sitecomnas (User: admin/Pwd: admin) http:\\sitecomnas:3689
This project is clearly discontinued and not updated for the last 5 years.So, what's the use of iTunes in NAS?
You can't play or even list music from iOS devices or iTunes clients ... it's useless!!
There's anyone using this service??
