uImage-2.6.35-debian-installer
uImage-arm-kirkwood-2.6.36-rc2

Can not find them anywhere. They are handy when it is time to do some rescuing.

Found them on a failed hard-disk. The more useful is uImage-2.6.35-debian-installer.

file -s shows:
file -s /tftproot/uImage-2.6.35-debian-installer
/tftproot/uImage-2.6.35-debian-installer: u-boot legacy uImage, Linux-2.6.35.4-dirty,
Linux/ARM, OS Kernel Image (Not compressed), 4480376 bytes, Sun Sep 12 20:32:12 2010,
Load Address: 0x00008000, Entry Point: 0x00008000, Header CRC: 0xFCEA37AE, Data CRC: 0xCEF727A8

The years old bitzi magnet in bitzi.com is correct:

bitcollider -p /tftproot/uImage-2.6.35-debian-installer
/tftproot/uImage-2.6.35-debian-installer: ok.
head.agent=Bitprinter/0.6.0 (May 24 2006 07:31:52)
head.version=S0.4

And the md5sum:
md5sum /tftproot/uImage-2.6.35-debian-installer dfd4076a43bead44989b60e00ad7e9a4

For download it is now in http://uptobox.com/6m2svptbj6dn for some time, http://bugtracker.nas-central.org/signup_page.php has some captcha troubles.

This installer is old and the hard-coded urls to debian servers do not work.

It can be used to ssh and chroot. Maybe to install debian in some way.

Gentoo installing is easy. As in Gentoo handbook get stage3-armv4tl-20130806.tar.bz2, portage and kernel sources. The debian tar-program may not work, so it may be neccessary to tar in another computer. Chroot, set root password ...

Then compile the kernel (takes some 6 hours):

make kirkwood_defconfig
make && make modules_install
make uImage

Then dd the /usr/src/linux/arch/arm/boot/uImage to sda6 and reboot. If in troubles, clunc the installer again.

I mirrored them here:
http://downloads.lacie.nas-central.org/ ... installer/

Any idea of these kernels work for both Classic and Lite?

Thanks!

The files originated from ftp.lacie-nas.org some 3 years ago.

uImage-2.6.35-debian-installer is an installer that used debian mirrors to get system to hard drive (hda7).
uImage-arm-kirkwood-2.6.36-rc2 is to be installed in hda6 to boot the debian on hda7.

When cluncing the installer (tftpboot 0x8000000 /tftproot/uImage-2.6.35-debian-installer; bootm;) it loads into memory, not to hard drive.

After booting the installer and connecting with ssh (user=installer and password=azerty) there is a shell option.

This is the memory usage on Classic:
~ # df -h
Filesystem Size Used Available Use% Mounted on
tmpfs 124.3M 144.0K 124.1M 0% /dev

As the Lite has half the memory of Classic it should work. I have only classics.

It is also possible to mount USB-stick as swap-memory.

The available commands are:

~ # ls /bin/
anna fetch-url pidof
anna-install gen-crypt preseed_command
apt-install grep preseed_fetch
