Recovering files from disk

Post by razorpt69 » Mon Jul 21, 2014 1:32 am

My NS2 stopped being recognized, factory reset doesn't work, so I disassembled it and connected the HDD directly to a Ubuntu system.
The devices that appear are a 897MB unit, which contains two folders - EDMINI and snaps - and then also appears a 998GB unit, which I can't mount, it appears a message saying:

Unable to access the "998GB Unit"

Error mounting /dev/sdb2 at ...

can't read superblock

What can I do to access the files? (Sorry that I have zero knowledge of Ubuntu, just installed to try and recover my NS2)

Your filesystem is damaged. Normally you could try a

Code: Select all

xfs_repair /dev/sdb2
but it is recommended to first check if there is no hardware fault. Executing

Code: Select all

shows the kernel log. If there are any I/O errors on the disk, you should create a low-level backup on which you can recover.
