Networkspace 2 dead?

Post by jclabhel » Sat Oct 22, 2016 5:49 pm

Hi all,

New post here but just to check on the diagnostics on my Lacie drive.

_Its a 2tb Network space 2

_Been doing time machine backup for 1.5 yrs.

_Suddenly doesn't want to spin up.

_power on ... attempt spin up then repeated mechanical 'beeping' noise until you pull the power.

Please give any tips you have on how to fix this or retrieve the info on the drive.

Many thanks and apologies that this is probably such a straightforward query for some.

You have a hardware problem. Somehow the disk fails in spinning up. That can be a power problem, but of course it can also be the disk itself.
Please give any tips you have on how to fix this or retrieve the info on the drive.
You can open the case and take the disk out. That is a normal SATA disk. If the disk is not the problem, you can connect it to any Linux PC to read the data.
