I'm using Transmission Remote GUI to control transmission on my NS2 and that allows you to use magnet links.

All you need to do is to reconfigure your transmission to allow for remote connections.

Stop Transmission
for me work with this :
I write :

Code: Select all

/opt/bin/ipkg update
Print this :

Code: Select all

Downloading http://ipkg.nslu2-linux.org/feeds/optware/cs08q1armel/cross/stable/Packages
Updated list of available packages in /opt/lib/ipkg/lists/cross
Downloading http://ipkg.nslu2-linux.org/feeds/optware/cs08q1armel/cross/unstable/Packages
Updated list of available packages in /opt/lib/ipkg/lists/native
Downloading http://ipkg.nslu2-linux.org/feeds/optware/cs08q1armel/native/unstable/Packages
Updated list of available packages in /opt/lib/ipkg/lists/alternative
Successfully terminated.
Now I write this :

Code: Select all

/opt/bin/ipkg upgrade
Restart the NS2

Now I'm with Transmission 2.77 (14031)

Well, that doesn't work for me, ipkg update and upgrade work perfectly, I notice a 2.82 transmission package being downloaded, but the browser and tranmission remote clients keep giving version 2.22 (12099). Have even un- and reinstalled transmission, nothing...

Anyone got any ideas? I am on the rooted 2.2.8 firmware version by the way.

Is your init scipts starting the binaries installed by ipkg or is it starting the version installed in the firmware.

The /etc/initng/transmission.i init script launches /usr/bin/transmission-daemon.

Found a old thread from 2009 viewtopic.php?f=221&t=1665, it seems like the ipkg packed transmission goes into /opt/bin/.

Hi,

I don't understand your ask because transmission is already available with fvdw-sl firmware

And do not do that because there is not enough free space on the file system partition!

Hey,

I was checking transmission change log few days ago and found that latest versions had CPU usage improvements, so yesterday I compiled the latest transmission 2.84

can be installed with this command:

Code: Select all

ipkg install http://downloads.lacie.nas-central.org/Users/minosh/NetworkSpace2/ipkg_packages/transmission-2.84_arm.ipk
Haven't tested it much, but you can post your feedback here.
