Would the NS2 transcode FLAC before streaming over LAN?

Post by kyng » Thu Mar 22, 2012 11:40 am

I am using the LaCie NS2 to stream audio files to my networked Blu-Ray player (an Oppo BDP-95) over a LAN ethernet network.

The files are Stereo flac/wav audio files (192Hz/24b) and 5.1 Multi-Channel surround files (96Hz/24b), ripped from Hi-Resolution DVD-Audio disks (and also some regular CDs).

I would like to know if the NS2 would send the .FLAC audio files to the media player NATIVELY, as is, or would the LaCie internally transcode / decode the flac file to a different format before streaming it across? Similarly, how would it treat .WAV files - would they be streamed natively or would they also be converted somehow?

I would prefer the Oppo to receive the full untouched file to handle the decoding itself.

Thanks!
