NSA-221 is suddenly Unreachable

Post by taciturn » Fri Apr 05, 2013 7:18 am

I upgraded to Firmware 4.40 a few days ago and things were fine. Last night I used the NAS to stream video, and it powers itself down at around 12 am. This morning I am unable to boot it. It blinks for about a minute, and then it shuts itself down.

From the NAS Starter Utility I can see that the device is in a state of Unreachable. It registers the drives properly and displays the used space properly on the NAS Starter utility, so the disks work.

If I hard reset it (3 beeps) and restore to factory defaults it does not help. But if I remove the disks then the nas boots up properly and I can connect.

What is wrong? Would it be necessary to downgrade to 4.21 firmware?

This is sounds almost exactly what has happend to my NAS. Zyxel support suggested the disks have failed but I've since booted the NAS up without the disks in and then hot pushed one of the disks in - I've been trying to copy off the files with some success to USB but everynowandagain the NAS hangs and is unreachable and the shares can't be found.

Hope somebody can propose a solution

Do you by chance have any packets installed, from the previous firmware?
