Good morning all.

My d2 Network 2 is over three years old now and I've been concerned with the drive's health. I've been getting repeated messages that my Time Machine backup is bad and that I need to recreate it. I do backup over wireless and have read that may be the leading cause of this error. However, I have used the d2 for this for years and it's just started happening, and often.

To replace the OEM drive, I have purchased a Crucial BX100 SSD (I know it's pointless for the speed but I need the silence) and would like to install the OS and software on it, but it's proving to be an impossible task.

When communicating with LaCie, they only offer the GPL source files for the OS, and have made it very clear that they do not offer any support for it. You can find the page here: https://www.lacie.com/us/support/driver ... m?id=10165

They also offer a support page about using LNA recovery mode. However, I haven't been able to get that to work either. You can find that here: https://www.lacie.com/support/support_m ... ticle=1422

I found instructions on how to do it on the NAS Central site here: http://lacie.nas-central.org/wiki/Insta ... _Network_2), but they are very different than the ones I have found from LaCie. Before I try it, I would like to know if anyone has tried using the GPL source method or the LNA recovery mode listed above.

I just want to do this right. I don't want to get a month or two down the line and run into the same problems and just end up having to purchase a new NAS. It's bad enough that LaCie put the software on the drive rather than the hardware itself, but not giving instructions or supporting a replacement drive AT ALL is enough to make me go away from LaCie as a whole. However, I've been using their products for a long time and have had good luck with all the others. I also like that the d2 is fanless and the unit itself still works just fine; to my knowledge anyway.

So, if anyone has any insight into this, I would really appreciate your feedback. Thank you in advance.
Adam

OK, I've tried everything. Even the instructions on this site. Nothing is working. I give up. I'm going to a new NAS. This is just not worth it.
