Hi guys!

I hope somebody is able to help me. I have trying to solve my problem already couple weeks with techsupp guys, but it seems they are not able to help me anymore.

I have a really old 2big Network2 drive and I have never done any upgrade to it. Now I have noticed some small problems in it and I would like to upgrade SW to the latest possible one.

Problem is that I'm not able to get old enough capsules for it from Internet. Techsupp guys from LaCie gave me huge amount of TAR-files. I tried to use them by Network Assistant, but it doesn't accept TAR-files at all.

The first TAR-file I should convert to Capsule is from version 1.2.5. Is there anybody who could tell me how to do convertion?

tar archive are Linux compression, you can use a program like 7-zip to unpack them on a windows machine. On a linux machine the command to use is tar

So, if I unpack the tar-file Network Assistant should accept all those files included to tar?

I unpacked the TAR-package, but still Network Assistant doesn't accept it. I even unpacked all those bz2 files and tar files inside it, but none of those were accepted by Netowork Assistant.

AFIK the lacie assistant needs file with .capsule extension

for example like this 2bignetwork2_2.2.9.3.capsule

Can you post the files (names) that you found in the tar archive ?

seems Lacie has sent you a source code package to compile everything yourself...

One of the Tar-files I got is GPL_2Big_Network_2-1.2.5.tar and it contains 108 .bz2 packages.
Name of those packages are e.g. acl.tar.bz2, ajaxplorer.tar.bz2, attr.tar.bz2, avahi.tar.bz2, bash.tar.bz2, berkeleydb.tar.bz2, busybox.tar.bz2, bzip2.tar.bz2, coreutils.tar.bz2, cron.tar.bz2 and so on.

Network Assistant says it's 2 Big Network 2 and in the bottom of drive it says Network v2.
I have found from Internet capsule of version 1.2.6, but when I tried to use it Network Assistant said it's too new and I would need version 1.2.5.

maybe the file you downloaded is not for 2bignetwork2

you can download it here using ftp

ftp://update.lacie.com/

use as username 2bignetwork2 and password 2bignetwork2 (if you use other user and pasword you won't get the right listing

click on "1.0", then "map" and you will get a list with directory containing capsules. 1.2.6 is oldest one available

If that then still doesn't work you could consider this method
