I have been thinking of trying to install OS3 now I have the newer u-boot that supports nexux
I have unpacked the LaCie 2Big NAS capsule and have the uImage and RootFS
I uploaded the uImage with tftp, it loaded and started OK
then reset when trying to mount the RootFS as it was not present
so I have taken the partition layout i found for cloudbox and tried to match the partitions
Code: Select all
8 0 3907018584 sda
8 1 1024 sda1
8 2 196608 sda2 <---Kernel /rescue/uImage
8 3 1024 sda3 <---RescueFS userEnv (ext2)
8 4 1572864 sda4 <---RootFS & /boot/uImage
8 5 1572864 sda5 <---RootFS & /boot/uImage
8 6 1048576 sda6 <---Legacy
8 7 262144 sda7 <---Legacy
8 8 3902362439 sda8 <---UserData
so if i was to write uImage to sda2 for recovery and RootFS.tar.lzma to sda4 or sda5,
I think this 2Big2 could run the 2Big NAS OS 3
I guess there is only one way to find out for sure
I think looking at the environment that sda2 will be raw written with dd and the kernel here is used for rescue
the file RootFS.tar.lzma should be extracted to the partitions 4 and 5 I guess one is a backup....
it does contain /boot/uImage inside the archive......
any tips here would be appreciated.
I just won an auction for another 2big, I hope it is a 2Big NAS diskless....
so I will wait for that to turn up before I waste time....
