Lost disk, restore partition into new one

Post by tef » Fri Jun 17, 2011 8:28 am

Hi, my network space max is without disk :D
I've tried to replace them with 2 500gb , but i can't find a way to rebuild the structure of the disk (i learned too late that the SO was on the disk partition)

Reading Lacie Network space 2, some user uploaded the sda partition on this site (http://downloads.lacie.nas-central.org/Users/klooride/) can i use these?
Can someone upload this image?
I don't want to throw away that unit. Lacie support told me that they don't give these image.

Thanks

Hi tef,

The disk images for network space 2 can be found here....

http://downloads.lacie.nas-central.org/ ... ce2/1.0.2/

I believe they are the same as the MAX.

The required partitions are as follows...

[root@NetworkSpace2 ~]# fdisk -l

Disk /dev/sda: 1000.2 GB, 1000204886016 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 121601 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sda1 1 250 2008093+ 5 Extended
/dev/sda2 251 121601 974751907+ 83 Linux
/dev/sda5 1 32 256977 82 Linux swap
/dev/sda6 33 33 8001 83 Linux
/dev/sda7 34 34 8001 83 Linux
/dev/sda8 35 140 851413+ 83 Linux
/dev/sda9 141 249 875511 83 Linux
/dev/sda10 250 250 8001 83 Linux

There's a thread discussing how to rebuild the disk Network Space 2. Should in theory be the same for Max.

Hi tef,

You can use smaller hard drives just reduce the size of sda2 the user data area. Oh yes I imagine disks of the same capacity is a must.
