Hi there!

I've noticed Splix and CUPS 1.4 in the repository, so I tried them, because I did not manage to make my Samsung ml1640 work with Iomega HMHD.

So
-Installed CUPS and Splix
-successfully configured printer at admin page
-blacklisted usblp (as far as I know, its an important step with cups 1.4)
-added /dev/usb/lp0 to group lp and gave o+rw permission
-configured windows client to recognise CUPS printer (directly and not with samba)

When I start a print job from windows, the CUPS says that "Samsung ML-1640, SpliX V. 2.0.0 Processing - "Waiting for printer to become available...""

And nothing happens.

What should I do to make it work?

Thank you!

PS: I cannot print a test page too, because it says:
"Unsupported format 'application/vnd.cups-banner'!"

shit...
I "overconfigured" the NAS...

I forgot to put paper in the printer, and when I did that a windows printer test page appeared with Printer1 name :D
So it worked once yesterday.

Can someone please copy-paste here the default smb.conf from /etc/samba ?
Thank you in advance!

Hey,
Can I ask, how did you get CUPS to install successfully on HMND? I have been struggling to get apt-get to work properly. I got 'apt-get update' to work, but when I run 'apt-get install cups', it tries to download 256mb of packages, and then just hangs. I cant believe cups takes up 256mb!

ANy advice gratefully received.

I am also looking into getting this working. I've managed to get a Cups test page out of my Samsung ML-2010 and struggling to get it to broadcast the printer on the network or connect to the printer from another computer.
