I have the MHND home media 1tb network drive.

it used to work fine with my win xp laptop. I have lots of important data on that drive. Now I can access it.

I can see it assigned to 192.168.1.5 in my router
BUT
when I run the iomega s/w manager, it seems to find it (that is.. it shows iomega-0ac92e in the top header ) but the window shows a single folder with a weird name ?:GT<
when I try to click on it, error message is that windows cannot connect to \\iomega\0ac92e

I have a windows xp laptop and a windows 7 laptop and neither one can connect

Help please ?

The folder shown in Windows Networking is not the actual foldername, but an alias, as specified in /etc/samba/smb.conf. So possibly this file is damaged.

Can you still login via the webinterface? In that case you can turn on FTP, and try to access your data via FTP. If that works you have evidence that the data is not actually damaged, and can you try to recover your samba configuration, by getting root shell access, and having a look to the config file.
