unable to fetch files during apt-get install

Post by essegi » Mon Dec 19, 2011 4:09 pm

I obtain several "unable to fetch file" - "404 non found" error messages every time I try to install some package.
For example, when I do "apt-get install dropbear" to get ssh support, I obtain:

Code: Select all

Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
The following packages were automatically installed and are no longer required:
  libgpm2
Use 'apt-get autoremove' to remove them.
The following extra packages will be installed:
  zlib1g
Suggested packages:
  openssh-client runit
The following NEW packages will be installed:
  dropbear zlib1g
0 upgraded, 2 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
Need to get 74.1kB/291kB of archives.
After this operation, 705kB of additional disk space will be used.
Do you want to continue [Y/n]?
Err http://mirrors.kernel.org lenny/main zlib1g 1:1.2.3.3.dfsg-12
  404 Not Found
Failed to fetch http://mirrors.kernel.org/debian/pool/main/z/zlib/zlib1g_1.2.3.3
.dfsg-12_armel.deb 404 Not Found
E: Unable to fetch some archives, maybe run apt-get update or try with --fix-mis
sing?
Page http://iomega.nas-central.org/wiki/Gett ... et_to_work suggests to add some lines to sources.list, but I have not understood the syntax.
Here is my sources.list:

Code: Select all

deb http://mirrors.kernel.org/debian lenny main contrib non-free
deb-src http://mirrors.kernel.org/debian lenny main contrib non-free
deb http://security.debian.org/ lenny/updates main contrib
deb-src http://security.debian.org/ lenny/updates main contrib
How can I add, for example, the first and second entries (Australia and Austria) main mirrors from page http://www.debian.org/mirror/list?
Thank you.

Moreover, when I will (I hope) install dropbear successfully, how can I configure and invoke ssh?
Thank you.

When you install dropbear, it will be configured and started automagically.

Sorry, I am unable to conclude apt-get update with success. I have tried many time.
Every time the operation concludes with an error like the following:
Fetched 86.6kB in 7s (11.4kB/s)
Reading package lists... Done
W: GPG error: http://ftp.xxx.debian.org lenny Release: The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY XXX...
W: You may want to run apt-get update to correct these problems
What can I do?
Thank you.

It's in the wiki, in section 'troubleshooting'.

After a bit of googling, I've tried:

Code: Select all

# gpg --keyserver ftp.at.debian.org --recv-keys XXX...
gpg: requesting key XXX from hkp server ftp.at.debian.org
?: error creating socket: Address family not supported by protocol
gpgkeys: HTTP fetch error 7: couldn't connect: Address family not supported by p
rotocol
gpg: no valid OpenPGP data found.
gpg: Total number processed: 0
:( I don't understand...

OK, sorry. I've solved after reading the last lines in page http://iomega.nas-central.org/wiki/Gett ... et_to_work
Thank you.
