IX2 200 Discs never sleep

Post by grwalker » Wed Apr 09, 2014 4:57 pm

Hi All.

My IX2 200 disks never stop spinning. The system works OK, temperature at 55C without the fan running. Should the discs stop at any time?

Thanks

Yes. If they don't, I guess there is some daemon running. A torrent? Would also explain your network problems.

There are no torrents running. It's switched off on the IX2. Where else would i look to find the problem.

As for the network problems it seems that the PC that the IX2 is connected (wired via the router) is the only machine that loses connection. It looks like all other machines connected to the wireless network remain connected to the IX2. But i am trying to replicate that phenomena

Thanks

At the risk of answering my own question could this have anything to do with my ESET firewall?

I have just discovered that i lose connection to the NAS when Plex media server scanned for new files. When i switched off the fire wall the scanning ran with out a hitch. Since other (wireless) machines do not lose connection to the NAS (they are not running ESET) i think this may the problem.

Thanks

A firewall can certainly be the problem, when you have network troubles.

About the disks staying awake, you can login over ssh, and run 'top' to see which daemons are active.
