Best way to Backup before upgrade Ix2-200 to Ix2-200CE

Post by regiscruzbr » Tue Jul 01, 2014 8:05 pm

Hi everyone

I finally decide upgrade my IX2-200 to IX2-200CE, like every one are doing on the past 3 years or so.
It was here sitting on the corner for a long time, thanks for the frustration given by Iomega Iomega on the firmware upgrade thing, like everybody know.

Well I had upgraded my disks from 2x1TB to 2x2TB and just it, my actual firmware is 2.1.42.18967 and I have 345GB of data to be Backup on an external 1TB disk that I saved from the disk upgrade I did on the NAS.

Can anyone tell me what is the best way to backup all this data from my NAS to my external hard drive?
Should I just plug the drive on the USB and do the Copy Job App thing?
I believe that the backup using the network would be a stupid option because I will need an computer on for long days, right?

As you can see, I'm not a good English writer or backup specialist, can you help me, please?

Thanks

I didn't. I had my IX2-200 mainly for playing, and there was nothing interesting on the disk.

But if I had to backup, I would connect an USB disk, login over ssh, and use cp to copy data over. Output redirect to a file, so the ssh session can be closed.
