Freenas on StorCenter ix2-200

Post by allmdm » Sun Jan 22, 2012 9:50 am

Hi,
I have a ix2-200 standard that I have upgraded to the cloud edition.
I have upgraded to the latest ix2-200-3.2.3.9273 firmware, but I am very disappointed because this FW is causing a lot of problems.
I've lost some files in the external drives connected to the unit.

Is there any way to get rid of the Iomega firmware and install Freenas instead? I've seen people installing Debian on this device.
I think Freenas is a more reliable operating system than the Iomega one.

Best,

I don't think Freenas can be installed. AFAIK it is only available for x86 and AMD64 platforms. You NAS runs an Arm.

Why not install Debian? AFAIK the only real advantage of Freenas over Debian as NAS OS is the availability of ZFS. But ZFS needs lots and lots of RAM, which you don't have anyway.
