Iomega iconnect: it's possible NetworkRendering with 3dsMax?

Post by Horsepower » Thu Jul 18, 2013 4:13 pm

I need to know, PRIOR to BUY a "Iomega iconnect" unit, if it's possible to use that product to create a Renderfarm.
I want Network Rendering with Autodesk 3dsMax+Backburner (a small Autodesk application that share the rendering over machines) with 2 Workstation connected to iconnect.

-I attach a 2Tb USB HardDisk to iconnect
-then, 2 Workstation Load the 3dsMax project, the textures, the images, the files, stored in the USB HDD, with iconnect,
-then the 2 Workstation Saves the final .jpg rendering images to USB HDD, with iconnect!

-This NetworkRendering is possible?
-It works?
-Or, there are some problems of limited bandwith, with iconnect, or there are other sort of problems?

My Wi-Fi router is branded Telecom/Alice "Pirelli® - VoicePlus" with LAN 10/100 Mbps.
My ADSL connection is 7Mbps.
My Wi-Fi connection is about 150Mbps.

Please help me!
Thanks for any suggestion!

You know, it's hard to say. *If* your network can perform the task, I'd expect the iConnect to be able too. The iConnect should be able to saturate your (wireless) network in both directions simultaneously, except, maybe, when a NTFS disk is connected.

Why don't you connect the disk to one of your workstations?
