NSA325v2 VPN server or Client help + Linux noob.

Post by mikkele86 » Sun May 17, 2015 7:28 pm

Hello Mikkel here. New to this forum.

I recently decided to try and make my 325v2 into a VPN Server or VPN Client, using
modem: CG3000 (provided by ISP)
Router: ASUS rt-n66u w. build-in vpn(PPTP)
NAS: NSA325v2 Firmware: 4.71

installing FFP 0.7 through GUI admin/zy-pkgs/web_prefix etc.
Using PuTTy through telnet only to enable SSH
Login as root

starting uwsiteloader.sh
starting slacker -Ui
installing softethervpn-4.12_beta9514-arm-1.txz

tried with and without installing/upgrading following packages, no difference:
br2:libiconv
br2:ncurses
br2:readline
br2:gcc-solibs
br2:uClibc-solibs
s:openssl
s:zlib

command: vpnclient start
command: vpncmd -> 2
command: 192.168.1.3
Connected to VPN Client "192.168.1.3".

First thing I try is, to use: NicCreate
enters a name and hit enter

Error occurred. (Error code: 31)
Installation of the Virtual Network Adapter device driver failed.
VPN Client>

I read somewhere that I needed a Universal TUN/TAP driver.
http://vtun.sourceforge.net/tun/

But my linux skills stops here, I have no clue how to install such a thing.

------------------------ ADDITION INFO --------------------------- :D

+ Somethings tells me the nsa325 is not allow outside of routere ?
+ with Softether Server running on NSA325v2 nothing can contact it.

+ I can confirm my VPN server on ASUS rt-n66u works through windows+WAN IP(PPTP)
+ my LAN computer IP on VPN connection is 192.168.10.2

+ Modem CG3000 have uPNP disabled and NAT disabled

+ I have tried the Softether client management with same results: device driver failed.

ROADMAP:

192.168.1.x LAN--<->--192.168.1.1-ASUS Router--<--WAN IP-->--CG3000<---->WAN

Thanks. Did all in the post, and got the client to work. :)

But for some reason I'm getting some errors.
Softether keeps retrying and my ASUS routere throws this.:
I can get into the VPN by Windows

May 19 22:03:14 pptpd[437]: MGR: initial packet length 5635 outside (0 - 220)

My settings for Softether Client
-------------------------

Destination VPN Server Host Name |192.168.1.1
Destination VPN Server Port Number |1723
Destination VPN Server Virtual Hub Name |

The command completed successfully.

This may be a wrong router setting, still messing around with it.
Eny recommendation ? :)

I think you guys are talking about zyxel vpn. But just for your information After successful initialization, go back to the NSU main menu and click Configur ation > System Setting to start configuring. You can assign a new hostname for this NSA325 v2, set the TimeZone and PPPoE connection information as well as an IP address for the NSA325 v2 vpn server. Although i didn't read any thing about zyxel in vpnranks industry.

Well I have used zyxel vpn but honestly speaking it never works like that as I was thought I did its configuration many times but unfortunately it does not connect to the main server then I switch to vpn for Australia and so far it has a great experience for me.

You guys smoked something or what. Never heard about zyxel vpn. Is that advertising of vpn networks? This forum is not for advertisements. If latter is the case, consider this my post as public warning.

Its pretty interesting to find out this thread, but unfortunately its really complicated and long process, i'm still scratching my head to figure out what's wrong with it. I'm looking for some strong and anonymous VPN for windows.

Maybe you vpn not supporting your windows, that's why you are facing this issue.

I would suggest you to check out the list of Best VPN for Windows and choose the best one which is compatible with your windows and have great features and protocols to provide you extra layer of security.

I used ZYXEL VPN and its not working at all. None of their server working and no support staff available for help then I search through Google and found this quick VPN for Canada and so far its working good.
