Backup to Private Share

Post by PatG1964 » Sun Feb 04, 2018 9:50 pm

My apologies if this has been asked before.

Set up a private share for backups on my NAS-325. I want to backup to it from 3 different computers in my house using a Robocopy script I have. I can access the share from my main admin computer, but not from the others. The reason for the private share is so that anyone on my network doesn't see the data.

Is this the best way to backup computers? I assume that I have to login to the NSA first using the private share. How would I do that from a .bat file?

Thanks!

You don't need it. Simply assign drive letter for shared network path and make it persistent, so it will be restored on each login. Execute from command prompt with admin priviledges:

Code: Select all

net use I: \\server\shared_directory /persistent:yes
Then prompt for credentials should appear. Tick on remember my credentials.
