Hey Everyone.
This is a bit of an older thread, but today i fell into a handful of 3TB NAS HDD (Seagate ST3000VN0000) disks. I figured since my second IX4 was dead, i would try and repopulate it.
The procedures outlined by Laido and team worked great.. One thing to note, that while the display shows that the disk are 2TB in the GUI, the Total size in the dashboard is correct (4x3TB - 11.2 useable without protection)..
To test it was addressable as well, i created a big 10GB iscsi disk and then filled it with DD (took a while, but i wanted to be sure).
Here is what I did.
1st - Made the USB floppy.. Make sure you wipe it with fdisk if its been in a linux machine and let Windows make it a FAT32 partition (note, if you have a big USB stick, make sure the partition is small enough to support a FAT32).
2nd - downloaded the emctools from the link in Laidko post (page1).
3rd - Extracted the image to the USB disk,
4th - powered off the Array, plugged in the USB, held down reset, powered on the array.
5th - When the USB started to flash, i released the reset button.
6th - When the array got to 75% (all 4 disks inserted) it shutdown. Press the power button and the array reboots and then comes up no problem
7th - Logged into the GUI and then answered the questions about initialize drive, etc.
So my IX4 is now a 12TB array..
many thanks!
D

After doing all these steps
- Making a Floppy with Tgz file
- Press Reset Button and Turn the unit on
- It does go to 75% and then shutdown
Whats happening on my screen is same USB and LAN logos are coming back on and unit is keep shutting down.
What I am missing?

Hi,
I have an ix4-200d, drive #4 has failed. I can SSH into the device. How do I mount and access the disks to pull the data off ? (using Mac or Windows).
The following is what is mounted:

rootfs on / type rootfs (rw)
/dev/root.old on /initrd type ext2 (rw,relatime,errors=continue)

Re: StorCenter ix4-200d system recovery
OK, I read through the forum...I had a failure on the update, rebooted and now it recognizes all 4 drives as "New" with data, please check the box to overwrite.....that is not what I want, I need to re-establish the raid 5 and recover the data....Is there any way to get the raid configuration back?
Re: StorCenter ix4-200d system recovery
How did you update? Using the webinterface or using a recovery thumb?thbernhardt wrote:I had a failure on the update,
Do you have ssh access? If yes, have you looked at the raid status?rebooted and now it recognizes all 4 drives as "New" with data, please check the box to overwrite.....that is not what I want, I need to re-establish the raid 5 and recover the data....Is there any way to get the raid configuration back?

never mind, found the trick...you can not directly log onto those links, you have to log into the web and authenticate THEN add the /support.htm to the end of the string

Re: StorCenter ix4-200d system recovery
Hello, sorry to dig up this post but I've a problem with my ix4-200d. I was trying to replace the 4x2TB disks with 4x4TB disks, obviously I removed all of them ( never RTFM
) and the NAS expected me to insert a usb drive with the firmware.
I did this and it started loading till it got stuck and I decided to shut down the NAS... that was the biggest mistake I could do...
Since then, the NAS boot up, but it only show the IOMEGA logo without doing anything else, and even if I insert a usb key with led, it doesn't do s***t
Is there a way to debrick it?
Thanks

Re: StorCenter ix4-200d system recovery
There are several methods for recovering the system. The first is to try the standard USB recovery boot process. It is describe in this forum in several places.
If that fails, you will need to buy a TTL-rs232 converter and load the firmware by hand. There are instructions for that in this forum as well.
I've not read of anyone creating a 16tb 200d, cloud or non-cloud, so please share your results here whether or not you are successful.
Thanks!

Re: StorCenter ix4-200d system recovery
Sorry for the basic question, I too have 4 disks in my ix4 and need to rebuild the Raid. If I use the USB update as described, will it wipe the data from the drives? thank you
