(sorry, my english is terrible....)

at the moment i use a Zyxel NSA210 as MySQL-server for my webapplications. I use phpmyadmin. This nas has 1 drive.

i want to use a LG N2A2 with 2 drives (RAID1) as MySQL-server. MySQL is standard located on the nas. I don't see phpmyadmin on the nas.
Is it posible to install phpmyadmin? do i need root access to install it?

You are aware that phpMyAdmin doesn't need to run on the same platform as MySQL? So you can use the same platform where your webapplications are running to host phpMyAdmin.

correction: i don't use webapplications but windowsapplications wich connect to mysql via internet. I want to replace the NSA210 with the N2A2 so that i have some protection if the harddisk crashes.

i tried to connect with Toad for MySQL on my laptop but i can't connect

i did some testing:

first i tried to connect with Toad to the NSA210 and get connected to the database. Even if i connect without specifying the database i get a response: "Access denied for user 'qqq'@'192.168.1.108' (using password: NO)"

When i change IP to the IP of the N2A2 in Toad i can not connect with it. i get the response: "Unable to connect to any of the specified MySQL hosts.". it looks like that mysql isn't started on N2A2

So you can't access MySQL from outside the box. Do you have a good reason to believe MySQL is running?
