I have an IcyBox IB NAS4220 NAS but will be changing to a D-Link ShareCenter Pulse shortly.
Will I be able to just swap the HDs over and still access my data or will I have to reformat the drives and create new backups?

I don't know that specific NAS, but I have never seen an BYOD device which accepted foreign disks 'as is'. They always want to reformat it.
