Help to identify old NAS unit.

Post by gm1mqe » Wed Nov 25, 2015 4:02 pm

I was given two NAS units. There is no manufacturer data anywhere on the units. The only clue is there is a number on the main board - PCB G5A53042141 REV1.3 Made in Taiwan 0713 also C4YO 94V-O.

It runs off a 12v adapter and can hold two SATA drives. The board also has two 40 way unused connectors that are empty. The board is approx 4" x 5" and has a battery 2032 type. There is also an unused 20 way connector and it has a USB conector for a printer.

I would like to get these working if anyone can help.

Two 40 way unused connectors? Could it be PATA connectors? The box might be a SATA/PATA hybrid. In that case it's problably from 2005~2007. Which SoC is inside? Photographs from mainboard and the NAS itself?

Thats what I thought. Board can be for SATA or PATA. Cant see what the chip set is but I will try to photo it and the case etc by the weekend.

Thanks, Andy

That's a 'StorLink SL3316' SoC. The MAC address is a funny one. It's a locally administered address, which has no OUI. I don't think it complies to any standard to deliver hardware with such an address.

Anyway, here can you find a brief list of SL3316 based boxes. The links are all dead, I'm afraid, but maybe google can help you further.

BTW, that is definitely a dual IDE/SATA box, but I guess some components are missing which limits it to SATA only.
