To start automatically or not Plex at NAS booting, you can use the switch command to enable/disable it:
Code:
plexmediaserver boot_status

Currently I see nothing wrong with plex.

To read easily the log file, go to the file share menu and edit the share plex-prog :
- enable samba access
- set a full access with a wanted user account.

Then use the same way than with fvdw to browse the folders upto Logs folder and open the file "Plex Media Server.log"

- Open first time the file "Plex Media Server.log" and search if there are some reported errors.
- Then try again to load the plex page
- Re-open the file and see in there are some errors in the new lines

Note: I updated my plex media version and I don't have your issue

So it succeeded to update the agents and still you can not load the Plex page :?:

If not, you can try to uninstall Plex end reinstall it
Code:
plexmediaserver uninstall
plexmediaserver install

Plex Media server is already installed!

I'm not too lucky with all that, am I? ;)

Yes you can try to do manually :

- Go to the file shares menu; edit the share 'plex-prog' and delete the share.
- in a Terminal window, run this remove command
Code:
rm -rfv /direct-usb/fvdw/addons/plexmediaserver

Then try to install again plex.

---edit---
You fail to uninstall because there is a bug in the script. So nothing wrong on your side (at least for this issue).
Do a manual uninstall

ok, I've managed to deinstall manually and reinstall plex. let's wait 30mn and see...

One more thing, I've plugged in a USB drive in the 5big and it's not appearing in my explorer (OS X yosemite) nor clicking on its name from the web interface. I saw there is a bug reported for external USB drives but is there no ways to get to them at all?

--edit--
30mn later and still no access to plex server... :(
just a thought, any of the folders/shares (FVDW, add-ons etc) need to be made public at all from the web interface?

--update--
Gave it a try with the IP address instead of the name (http://192.168.1.41:32400/web/index.html) and it works! This means the 5big's hostname is not being resolved if I am correct...I'll work on this and keep you guys updated...

You are right.
I forgot you are a mac user and netbios service does not work on it.
So you need to add a line in your hosts file or enable afp server (main setup menu)

No
As you just discover the firmware, think you need to read the help pages about shares and user account.

What do you see in the usb disks menu (table)

What fs is used on this USB drive.

enabled the AFP server but still not available via the server name...What's the line I need to add in the host file?

Jocko wrote:

I've added a screen of the web interface USB line. (vFat format)

Ideally I'd like to copy my backup back into the RAID without copying the permissions...I know there is a command line for this but don't remember it...CHMOD? CHOWN? anyone knows?

You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

In host file you may add a line like this:
Code:
192.168.1.41   Lacie5Big.local     Lacie5Big

about USB drive your backup size is only 200MB ?

All seems to be ok on the USB side: a share "EFI-1" is set, to restore do some command lines like this
Code:
cp -r --no-preserve=mode,ownership /direct-usb/EFI-1/pathto..folder /share/1100/wantedsharename
'wantedsharename' is the share name where you want to restore the usb data and 'pathtp..folder' is the path to the folder that you want copy on the NAS

after restoring data set permissions on these files
Code:
chmod -R a+rwX /share/1100/wantedsharename

The USB drive is actually 2Tb. Not sure why it is showing this size...Bug maybe?

Thank you. But shouldn't it be mounted automatically? Is this another bug or something specific to my setup?

--edit-- this command (cp etc...) is for copying isn't it? I am not familiar with command lines but I don't understand how this can mount my external usb drive...can you please confirm this is what I need to do?

--edit 2-- Ok, I understand you're indicating me how to copy folders from the usb to the 5big...Any ways to mount the usb instead?

About usb disk size; can you post
Code:
gdisk -l /dev/sej
grep sej /proc/partitions
