Hello,
my Lacie d2 network internal hard drive received a shock and is not working anymore. I decided to repair it by myself so i bought a new sata hard drive really similar to the original one (an Hitachi deskstar 7K100.C 1T). I supposed that the replacement process was not so complicated, just take apart the unit, replace the drive and then format by the lacie web manager.. but i discovered that this is not the case. The d2 unit with the replaced fresh hard drive is not able to startup. I understand now that i need to manually rebuild the partition, and maybe also install the gpl source code.. my linux knowledge is quiet poor and i'm totally lost on what i have to do.
Can someone help me?
Can anyone provide a dump image of a clean d2 network?
Many thanks in advance!

Unfortunately it seems D2 owners only get here when their disks are damaged, so nobody ever posted the image dumps.

I think you could use the Edmini V2 images to get the NAS running with one disk.
The D2 is supported by the vanilla kernel, so you could also build your own kernel, and put Debian on the box.

Indeed. Unfortunately nothing has changed since October 2011 when I wrote that nobody ever donated D2 dumps. The Edmini V2 images might fit.

Another option is to compile your own kernel and install Debian.

A third option is to ask fvdw to help you to put his alternate firmware on the box. His alternate firmware works on an Edmini V2, and I happen to know that he recently added multidisk support. So it might work on your box.
