Can't add user

Post by Voytec » Sun Oct 19, 2014 3:39 pm

I was trying to add user, but can't find what is wrong.
When I try to add user via manage page, i get something like "Unable to add user "username" "

When i try it on ssh level i stop on:
useradd: cannot lock /etc/group; try again later.

Does anyone have seen this problem before?

Unfortunaly there are no *.lock files in /etc/, and also i can't find them anywhere...

Besides I would very much like to add users using web management page no through ssh

my question is: Could FFP or something related to it, block adding users?

Not by design.

I guess both ways are blocked by the same cause. But the cause is easier to find in the command line.

You can try to execute

Code: Select all

strace -o adduser.log adduser <args>
That will log all kernel access of adduser, and maybe it will tell you how adduser finds that /etc/group is locked.
