Greetings.

I'm thinking on buying a new NAS but a i dont know much about this topic(at least on the HW side... biggrin.gif ). It will be used in my home network so it needs to support a few things(CIFS, DLNA, printserver....), and im planning on running raid arrays so a 4 bay model would be good with a fanless design/very quiet fan since it will be in my room. My budget is about 500€, the HDD's(3,5) will be coming from my old NAS so i dont need new ones. What do you recommend for this purpose?

Thanks in advance for the help.

I'm not aware of any fanless 4 bay NAS. Nor an I aware of any NAS which will accept pre-filled disks without formatting them.

Then it will have a fan, its not a prob if its not too noisy :D . As for the HDD it will be formatted before i put it in to the new NAS... As for the NAS i just done some searching and found two candidate for the job:
https://www.synology.com/en-us/products/DS414#spec
http://www.qnap.com/i/en/product/model. ... 99&event=2

The qnap is 20 euro cheaper than the synology. On the other hand the Synology has a dual core CPU and supports 6 TB disks... Based on this it seems the synology will win this round.

Hey! That is not on your list of requirements. Unfortunately FFP doesn't run on it. Maybe in the future. More here.

/EDIT
Im in the middle of copying stuff to the NAS but i already started to tinker with the built-in telnet. The file system is different than the NSA325... :/
