Hi, my NAS540 sounds alot, its not the fan but its like vibrations, it vibrates alot and the metal chassi just rattles, alot!

Do anyone know if it can be solved by some home made solutions?

I toke off the front and the back and had a check around inside, it seems hard to be able to get some sound absorbing material inside without taking the whole thing apart.

Unfortunately the outer chassis is made of plastic so its inclined to resonate... I have this isssue sometimes and thinking on using some of this material on it:

I had the same problem until I used the screws to fasten the HDDs instead of the clip-on things. Now I only hear the faint hissing noise HDDs make when spinning.

Thanks for the replays!

I will probably test both to use the screws and then some sound damping material, its just very hard to place the material inside without taking off the chassi

Thank you!!! (I created an account here just so that I could thank you! :D )

I can confirm that this did the trick. Now it's almost silent! (just the sound of the spinning)
